WaterBridge Infrastructure Funding Rounds

DateStageRaised FromRaisedValuationRev. MultipleDeal Summary
Jan-16Undisclosed stageFive Point Energy$200M-WaterBridge Infrastructure (also referred to as WaterBridge Resources or WaterBridge Holdings LLC) is a Houston-based midstream company focused on developing, owning, and operating permanent integrated water infrastructure networks for produced water management in oil and gas basins, including gathering, pipelines, separation, recycling, and disposal services under long-term, fee-based contracts with producers like Chevron, EOG, Devon, and others primarily in the Permian Delaware Basin and Arkoma. Founded in January 2016 by Stephen Johnson and Andy Stephens in partnership with Five Point Energy (then Five Point Capital Partners), the company was formed with an equity commitment of up to $200 million from Five Point Capital Midstream Fund II L.P. and affiliates to pursue brownfield, greenfield developments, and acquisitions in North America resource plays. Five Point Energy, a private equity firm managing billions in capital focused on midstream energy including water solutions, led the initial funding and provided ongoing support, with David Capobianco as Chairman. Subsequent capital raises included $345 million in additional equity in 2020 from Five Point and others to fund strategic acquisitions in the Southern Delaware Basin, enhancing capacity and redundancy for producer development programs. In 2019, WaterBridge secured a $1.0 billion Term Loan B and $150 million revolver, partly to fund a PDC Energy asset acquisition adding disposal wells and pipelines, resulting in over $500 million liquidity including equity frameworks from Five Point and GIC. A minority equity sale to GIC in 2022 implied an enterprise value of approximately $2.8 billion, with commitments for further growth capital post-PDC deal, owning 550 miles of pipeline and 56 facilities. WaterBridge grew aggressively post-2016, expanding to 2,500 miles of pipeline and 196 facilities by 2025, with 1,400 mbpd permitted capacity in key basins like Southern Delaware (62 SWDs, 630+ miles pipeline) and Arkoma (10 SWDs, 170,000 bpd capacity, 175 miles pipeline under long-term contracts covering 378,000 dedicated acres). The company positioned as a first-mover in the emerging water midstream sector, offering essential services to reduce producers' wastewater management costs and risks amid environmental regulations. Later traction included long-term contracts ensuring stable recurring revenue, with IPO in 2025 raising $634 million at $2.3 billion valuation (shares jumping to nearly $3 billion market cap), backed by Five Point and GIC. Competition includes smaller Permian operators, but WaterBridge differentiates via scale, recycling tech, and blue-chip clients.
