Rowe Price$350M$10BDropbox is a cloud storage and file synchronization service that sells to both consumers and businesses. The company had built significant scale with over 500 million users across more than 180 countries by the time of this funding round. In January 2014, the Wall Street Journal initially reported that Dropbox had raised $250 million at a $10 billion post-money valuation, led by a BlackRock fund. By February 2014, regulatory filings confirmed the final round size at $350 million at the same $10 billion valuation, with participation from existing investors including BlackRock, T. Rowe Price, and Morgan Stanley. The company was positioning itself as a pioneer in file sync and share software and had been an IPO candidate for over a year. According to Fortune's reporting on the SEC filing, Dropbox's 2013 revenue was $200 million, implying a valuation-to-revenue multiple of 50x at the $10 billion valuation. The round was handled by Allen & Company and Goldman Sachs. This Series C proved to be Dropbox's final major private funding round before the company went public in March 2018, when it priced its IPO between $16 and $18 per share, initially valuing it below the $10 billion private valuation from 2014.
