DateStageInvestorsRaisedValuationRev. MultipleDeal Summary
Jan-13Undisclosed stageIDFC Private Equity$84M--
Jun-10Strategic investmentTemasek-$198MTemasek invested S$280 million in GMR Energy in June 2010. Temasek Review 2010 described the target as a leading Indian power utility with 808 megawatts of existing generating capacity and approximately 6,000 megawatts of additions at various development stages. The transaction gave Temasek direct exposure to India's expanding electricity demand and power-infrastructure buildout. GMR Energy developed and operated generation assets and earned revenue from electricity sales and contracted project arrangements. The official source states Temasek's investment amount but does not provide an ownership percentage or total financing round, so no additional terms are inferred. The investment is classified as strategic growth capital rather than a public-market trade or fund commitment. GMR Energy was the energy-development and power-generation subsidiary of India's GMR Group. It developed and operated thermal, hydro and renewable generation assets and associated fuel and electricity infrastructure.
