DateStageRaised FromRaisedValuationRev. MultipleDeal Summary
Jul-17Undisclosed stageOne Equity Partners$291M$1BAllegro Microsystems, headquartered in Manchester, New Hampshire, is a global designer, developer, and manufacturer of sensing and power semiconductor technology serving automotive and industrial markets. The company's product portfolio includes solutions for vehicle electrification, advanced driver assistance safety features, industrial automation applications, and power-saving technologies for data centers and clean energy. One Equity Partners completed a $291 million minority investment in Allegro in October 2017, purchasing 28.8% of newly issued shares through a private placement with Sanken North America, the majority shareholder. The investment was structured to return proceeds to Sanken Electric as a special dividend. Following the investment, OEP partnered with Allegro's management team under CEO Ravi Vig to implement operational excellence programs and value creation initiatives. Over the subsequent three years, the company achieved significant gross margin expansion from the low 40% range to greater than 56% by fiscal year 2024, driven by manufacturing footprint optimization, pricing strategy improvements, facility consolidation and relocation to lower-cost geographies, go-to-market strategy revamping focused on automotive electrification and industrial markets, and three strategic acquisitions. In November 2020, Allegro completed its initial public offering on the Nasdaq, pricing 25 million shares at $14 per share and raising $350 million in gross proceeds, achieving a market capitalization exceeding $3.7 billion at close. One Equity Partners subsequently exited its remaining stake in October 2024. The company serves more than 10,000 customers worldwide across automotive and industrial semiconductor markets.
