PGA TOUR Enterprises Overview
About PGA TOUR Enterprises
PGA TOUR Enterprises is a for-profit commercial company created by the PGA TOUR to hold and develop the tour's commercial businesses. It was launched in January 2024 and is controlled by the PGA TOUR, the non-profit membership organisation that runs the main professional men's golf tour in the United States, with Strategic Sports Group, a consortium of American sports team owners led by Fenway Sports Group, as a minority investor. The company is responsible for the tour's commercial activities, including media rights, sponsorship, tournament and fan-engagement businesses, and new media and commercial opportunities. It earns revenue mainly from the sale of television and streaming rights and from sponsorship and licensing tied to PGA TOUR events. A player equity program gives nearly 200 PGA TOUR members equity grants in the business. Its 13-member board combines PGA TOUR player directors, PGA TOUR executives and four directors appointed by Strategic Sports Group. The company is based at the PGA TOUR's headquarters in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

| Jan 2024 | Strategic investment | Fenway Sports Group (lead); Wyc Grousbeck; Andrew Cohen; Alec Scheiner; Mark Attanasio; Arthur Blank; Gerry Cardinale; Tom Werner; Marc Lasry; Cohen Private Ventures; Steve Cohen | $1.5B | $12B | Strategic Sports Group, a consortium of American sports team owners led by Fenway Sports Group, invested an initial $1.5 billion in PGA TOUR Enterprises, the new for-profit commercial company of the PGA TOUR, announced on 31 January 2024. The PGA TOUR said SSG had closed on a financial and strategic investment of up to $3 billion, with the initial $1.5 billion going into PGA TOUR Enterprises; press reports put the value of the business implied by the investment at about $12 billion. Fenway Sports Group led the investment with support from the leadership of Cohen Private Ventures, including Steven Cohen, owner of the New York Mets, and Arthur Blank, owner of the Atlanta Falcons; other members named by the tour and in press reports included Mark Attanasio of the Milwaukee Brewers, Wyc Grousbeck of the Boston Celtics and Marc Lasry. John Henry of Fenway Sports Group acts as manager of the consortium, and FSG also serves as commercial adviser to the new company. SSG took a minority position, with PGA TOUR Enterprises remaining under the PGA TOUR's control, and received four seats on its 13-member board. A player equity program gives nearly 200 PGA TOUR members access to more than $1.5 billion in equity grants in the business, vesting over time. The agreement left room for a co-investment by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, the backer of LIV Golf, subject to regulatory approval, but those talks, which followed a June 2023 framework agreement, did not produce a deal. PGA TOUR Enterprises holds the tour's commercial businesses, including media rights, sponsorship and events, and is based in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. |
