Latest Investments by Evertz Microsystems
| Description | ShotTracker is an American basketball technology company, legally DDSports Inc., based in the Kansas City area, that captures live performance data using sensors. Its patented system has three parts: a ShotTracker-enabled ball, lightweight sensors worn on players' jerseys and court sensors mounted around the arena that map the floor in 3D. Data is processed by proprietary algorithms with sub-second latency and shown in the ShotTracker app and coaches' dashboard, giving teams real-time shooting, player and team statistics in practices and games. The data can also feed scoreboards and broadcasts, be licensed to media and sports-data companies and drive automated camera production. More than 63 NCAA Division I men's and women's programmes used the system by 2021, after a rollout in the Mountain West Conference, and it worked with Learfield IMG College and its partner schools. It earns revenue from system subscriptions sold to teams and conferences and from data and media licensing. In January 2021 it raised $11 million in a round led by broadcast-infrastructure company Evertz Technologies and Verizon Ventures to expand across the Power 6 conferences and into 5G cloud-based remote production, and Hearst Ventures then added $2 million to complete the round. |
