DateStageRaised FromRaisedValuationRev. MultipleDeal Summary
May-13Undisclosed stageFrancisco Partners$75M—Corsair Components, founded in 1994 and based in Fremont, CA, is a supplier of high-performance PC gaming components including DDR3 memory upgrades, mobile storage drives, power supply units, solid-state drives, PC speakers, gaming headsets, keyboards, mice, cooling products, and computer cases, targeting PC gaming enthusiasts who build their own systems or buy pre-assembled ones. In May 2013, the company received an approximately $75 million investment from Francisco Partners, a private equity firm focused on technology investments, with CEO Andy Paul and management retaining substantial equity. Stifel Financial advised on the transaction, and Francisco Partners aimed to strengthen Corsair's market position through product innovation and selective acquisitions. The investment came as Corsair reported approximately $500 million in annual revenue for the prior year (2012), highlighting its strong growth and brand among videogame enthusiasts. This positioned Corsair as an enviable player in the PC gaming hardware space under Andy Paul's leadership. Francisco Partners later sold a majority stake in Corsair to EagleTree Capital in a 2017 transaction valued at $525 million, with Andy Paul maintaining a sizable equity stake and continuing as CEO. Corsair had previously considered an IPO in 2012 but opted for private equity involvement. By 2020, Corsair went public in an IPO valuing it at about $1.3 billion, more than double the 2017 EagleTree deal, amid rising esports demand and over $1 billion in 2019 net sales.
