About RXR Realty

RXR Realty is a privately held real estate investment, development and operating company based in New York City, with a second headquarters at RXR Plaza in Uniondale on Long Island. It invests in, develops and manages commercial office, residential, multifamily, infrastructure and logistics properties, and as of 2023 its portfolio covered 91 commercial real estate properties and investments across the country, run by about 450 employees. Notable Manhattan holdings include 1166 Avenue of the Americas, 340 Madison Avenue, 237 Park Avenue, 75 Rockefeller Plaza, the Helmsley Building and the Starrett-Lehigh Building, which it bought in 2011. RXR earns rent and property income from its buildings, development profits, and fees from managing capital raised from institutional partners; NorthStar Realty Finance invested $340 million in the firm in 2013, and in 2015 Blackstone bought a 50% stake in six RXR properties in New York State and New Jersey. Its development work includes the redevelopment of Pier 57 in Hudson River Park with Youngwoo & Associates, whose new office space is leased to Google, the Garvies Point waterfront community in Glen Cove, and downtown New Rochelle. RXR was founded in 2007 by Scott Rechler, previously chairman and chief executive of Reckson Associates Realty, after SL Green acquired Reckson in 2006.

Feb 2020SecondaryBlue Owl Capital Inc.-Dyal Capital Partners, then part of Neuberger Berman and now Blue Owl's GP Strategic Capital platform, bought Colony Capital's 27.2% stake in RXR Realty in February 2020. Because Dyal bought an existing stake from another shareholder, the deal is a secondary transaction. The price was not disclosed, although Colony said it made a profit on the sale. Colony had inherited the stake when it merged with NorthStar Realty Finance in 2017, and it was part of Colony's effort to shed non-core assets under Tom Barrack. Dyal held the RXR stake through its fourth fund. RXR Realty is a New York-based real estate owner, developer, operator and investment manager founded in 2007 by Scott Rechler. The firm is active in commercial office, residential and mixed-use property in the New York metropolitan area and manages real estate investment funds for institutional investors. By the end of 2020 RXR managed about $20 billion of gross assets.
