Opotiki Packing and Cool Storage
Kiwi Crush
Description
Opotiki Packing and Cool Storage is a New Zealand kiwifruit post-harvest and orchard-services business founded in 1988. It packs, cool-stores and manages fruit for growers in the eastern Bay of Plenty, earning service revenue from horticultural customers and seasonal processing operations.
Kiwi Crush is a New Zealand consumer food business built around frozen kiwifruit-based drinks and ice blocks sold as digestive aids. The Kiwi Crush drink range has been sold in New Zealand since the early 1990s and is supplied to hospitals and rest homes as well as to supermarkets, where it is positioned as a natural way to support and balance the digestive system. A second line, Kiwi Crushies, is a range of one-hundred-percent natural fruit-based ice blocks that was launched in 2014. The products were developed, manufactured and sold by Vital Food Processors from its Auckland plant, and were treated by that company as non-core alongside its Phloe digestive health supplement range. Revenue comes from product sales through grocery and healthcare channels in New Zealand. The business was sold to the listed kiwifruit grower and post-harvest operator Seeka in 2016, which continued to have the products made by Vital Foods before moving production to its own facilities.
