In July 2016, GFG added €30 million to the round, bringing total commitments to €330 million ($365 million), while maintaining the €1 billion valuation. The down round reflected challenging market conditions and GFG's path to profitability. GFG CEO Romain Voog reported that the group had made significant progress in Q1 2016, reducing operating losses meaningfully compared to Q1 2015 and improving its adjusted EBITDA margin by over 10 percentage points year-over-year. The funding was intended to support GFG's strategy of building a leading position in online fashion across emerging markets while accelerating profitability across regional business units. Following the round, Rocket Internet's stake in GFG was 20.4 percent. The company faced headwinds in several markets, with Jabong reportedly on the auction block and Zalora divesting operations in Vietnam and Thailand.
