Avito Acquisition
Avito was acquired by Rosselkhozbank for an undisclosed price on 24 April 2025.
Before the acquisition Avito had raised $67M across 2 funding rounds.
A vehicle managed by Russian state agricultural lender Rosselkhozbank bought 50% of Avito, Russia's largest online classifieds marketplace, from Ivan Tavrin's Kismet Capital Group. The deal closed in April 2025 and Tavrin told staff about it on 24 April. Financial terms were not disclosed, although the parties described the transaction as commercial and said it settled part of the credit Kismet had used when it bought Avito in 2022. Kismet keeps the other 50%, leaving the two shareholders with equal stakes, and Tavrin remains involved in running the business. The shareholders said they want to expand Avito abroad and are considering an initial public offering.

| Jan 2019 | Secondary | Pobts (lead) | $1.2B | - | Avito is Russia's leading online classifieds platform. On January 25, 2019, Vostok New Ventures (VNV Global), referred to as Pobts, sold its entire stake in Avito for USD 540 million, reflecting the same valuation as December 31, 2018. The transaction valued Avito at $1.2 billion. VNV Global's investment in Avito, initiated years earlier, delivered a 34x return on invested capital and an IRR of 37%. Naspers had previously increased its stake in Avito through investments, reaching near full ownership prior to this sale. |
| Feb 2014 | Undisclosed stage | Kinnevik (lead) | $17M | $1.8B | Avito is the leading online classifieds platform in Russia, operating a marketplace for buying and selling used goods and services. In February 2014, Swedish investment firm Kinnevik exercised pre-emption rights to purchase warrants from Avito's founders, increasing its stake from 30.8% to 31.7% on a fully diluted basis by investing SEK 110 million (approximately $17 million). The transaction valued the company at SEK 11.7 billion, equivalent to $1.8 billion USD. For the full year 2014, Avito reported revenues of $76.5 million, representing 79% year-over-year growth, with an adjusted EBITDA margin of 50.6% generating $38.7 million in EBITDA. The platform demonstrated strong user engagement, with 27.1 million monthly users in December 2014 and 75 billion page views for the full year. Kinnevik had been a co-founder and participant in every financing round since Avito's inception in 2007, alongside other investors including Vostok Nafta, Baring Vostok, Accel Partners, and Northzone Ventures. The investment reflected confidence in Avito's market position following the company's 2013 acquisition of competing classifieds platforms Slando.ru and OLX.ru, which contributed significantly to revenue growth and market consolidation in Russia's online classifieds sector. |
| Mar 2013 | Undisclosed stage | Prosus (lead) | $50M | - | Avito is Russia's leading online classifieds platform, launched in 2007. In March 2013, Naspers agreed to merge its two Russian classified websites, Slando.ru and OLX.ru, into Avito in a transaction valued at $570 million. As part of the deal, Naspers invested $50 million in cash to secure an 18.6 percent stake in the combined entity. The transaction positioned Avito as the world's third largest classifieds site globally, behind only Craigslist and China's 58.com. Avito generated $30 million in revenue during 2012, the year immediately preceding the investment. The platform had 140,000 users listing items daily, with approximately 4,000 small businesses paying for premium listing services while consumers could list items for free. Following the merger, Avito was projected to hold approximately 25 percent market share of the Russian classified market by traffic and 15 percent by revenue. The company planned to accelerate revenue growth through monetization of both professional sellers and advertisers on its platform. |
