The commitment was structured as growth equity in an oil and gas production business with established cash flow characteristics. In 2016, Terra acquired WPX Energy's Piceance Basin assets for $910 million in cash plus natural gas hedges valued at over $90 million. As part of this acquisition, Terra increased its total equity commitment to $800 million, with Kayne Anderson and newly added investor Warburg Pincus each holding equal partnership stakes of $400 million. Terra holds 370,000 net acres in the Piceance Basin and produces approximately 530 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.
