Mar 2025SecondaryApollo Global Management (lead)$1B$4BBP Pipelines (TANAP) Ltd. is a BP subsidiary holding a 12% stake in the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP), a 1,118-mile (1,800 km) infrastructure spanning Türkiye as the central segment of the Southern Gas Corridor, transporting natural gas from Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz field to Europe. TANAP has a capacity of 16.2 billion cubic meters per year, with gas supplies to Turkey starting in 2018. Ownership of TANAP includes SOCAR at 51%, Botas at 30%, and SOCAR Turkiye Enerji at 7%. Apollo-managed funds agreed to acquire a 25% non-controlling stake in BP Pipelines (TANAP) Ltd. from BP for $1 billion on March 21, 2025, implying a $4 billion valuation for the entity. The transaction supports BP's $20 billion divestment program, allowing capital unlock while BP retains control and strategic governance in the joint venture. The deal is expected to close in Q2 2025, pending approvals. This follows a similar September 2024 agreement where Apollo acquired a non-controlling stake in BP Pipelines TAP Ltd. (holding 20% of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline) for approximately $1 billion, deepening Apollo's role in the Southern Gas Corridor.
