On August 24, 2015, UDR sold 2,900,000 shares of its common stock for aggregate gross proceeds of approximately $101.5 million. In October 2015, UDR completed the acquisition of six Washington, DC communities for a total purchase price of $901 million from Home Properties, L.P., funded through a combination of newly issued UDR DownREIT Units, assumed debt, Section 1031 exchanges, and cash. UDR also had contracts to sell communities for $221 million and $66 million, expected to close in December 2015. For the full year 2015, UDR reported rental income of $871.928 million, up from $805.002 million in 2014. Income from continuing operations was $105.482 million in 2015, compared to $16.260 million in 2014. Total assets stood at $2,554.808 million as of December 31, 2015. As of June 30, 2015, UDR owned or had an ownership position in 49,322 apartment homes, including 3,222 under development.
