Compare Intrinio API pricing and alternatives
Last verified: Aug 20, 2026Intrinio is a financial data platform that provides market and fundamental data via modern APIs, SDKs, and bulk feeds. It serves developers, startups, and large financial institutions as a flexible, developer-first alternative to institutional data vendors. This page covers Intrinio alternatives. If you are looking for the full coverage, investment-grade equity dataset, consider FactSet, Capital IQ, LSEG or Multiples instead of an emerging product like Intrinio.
What is the Intrinio API?
Intrinio is a US market data provider with a REST API. At the entry price users get real-time options and equities data, more than 15 years of fundamentals, historical stock data and tick-level market data. It also markets an AI integration for tools like Claude and ChatGPT. Intrinio delivers this data through flexible mechanisms such as Web APIs, WebSockets, direct database access via Snowflake, and cloud storage options.
Three pricing tiers are published: individual at $150 a month. Startup at $333 a month for six months, then $666 for six months, then $1,499. Enterprise starts around $1,250 a month on custom terms. A free trial is available across tiers. The individual plan is explicitly personal use only: no redistribution and no display.
Intrinio data is multi-sourced from many different vendors - it is a good financial API provider if you do not require a "brand name" stamp that you would get from platforms like FactSet, Capital IQ or Multiples. Across other emerging platforms, consider alternatives like Multiples, which licenses all data directly from FactSet and Morningstar.

Overview of Intrinio API alternatives
| Product | Overview | Pricing | Strengths | Limitations |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Massive | Massive API (formerly Polygon.io, rebranded in October 2025) delivers live and historical US market data across stocks, options, indices, FX, crypto and futures over REST, WebSocket and flat files. It competes with Intrinio mainly on real-time prices and options, at a much lower entry point ($29 a month). Fundamentals are thinner - financials and daily ratios are a $29 add-on. There are no consensus estimates. |

|
|
| Financial Modeling Prep | FMP API is the nearest match to Intrinio on data at a lower price: company accounts, share prices, calculated ratios and 30 years of history over REST and WebSocket, with a free tier. Compared to Intrinio, FMP has no options or tick-level data, weaker licensing terms for redistribution, and consensus estimates that are just as limited. Plans scale by geography (global coverage requires buying a top API tier). |

|
|
| Alpha Vantage | Alpha Vantage API is the cheapest way to cover more asset classes than Intrinio: one API key returns share prices, company accounts, EPS forecasts, FX, crypto, commodities and economic indicators. Data depth is shallower than Intrinio across the board, there are no options or tick data, and licensing terms for display in a product are not as explicit. Free tier for 25 calls a day, then from $49.99 a month. |

|
| Multiples | Enterprise-grade financial data API provider. Data licensed by FactSet and Morningstar. More expensive than Intrinio (although not by much), but provides significantly higher quality and organized public comps data. Full coverage (historical and consensus estimates data), plus private transactions data (M&A and VC). It is the only vendor in this comparison that provides actual investment-grade data. |

Should you choose Intrinio or look for an alternative?
Intrinio strengths
- Dev-friendly, self-serve REST API for US prices, standardized fundamentals, options, ETFs, and news
- A significant step up from Alpha Vantage when you need licensed US market data
- Published pricing, clear redistribution and display terms at the entry tier
Intrinio trade-offs
- US-centric. Thin global coverage versus Bloomberg, Multiples, LSEG, or FactSet
- Consensus estimates very limited, questionable coverage outside of US equities, not an institutional-grade product
- Good mid-market API, but not the investment banking or trading desk stack. Choose FactSet, Multiples, Capital IQ or LSEG for enterprise-grade coverage
Why consider Intrinio API alternatives
No private markets data
Intrinio does not carry private company or deal data. For that, consider Multiples, PitchBook or Crunchbase, depending on the use case.
Pricing steps up quickly
Individual starts around $150/month. The Startup tier steps from $333 to $1,499 a month over the first year. Real-time, OPRA, and redistribution require higher or custom tiers.
Coverage is US-focused
The whole Intrinio platform is focused on US markets. Non-US requirements usually mean a second vendor as non-US data is not available or very limited.
Estimates and multiples are limited
Consensus coverage is very thin next to FactSet, CapIQ, Multiples or I/B/E/S (LSEG). You need an enterprise-ready alternative for an actual commercial production environment that requires comprehensive valuation data.
