KAMA Acquisition
KAMA was acquired by SVEZA for $515M on 5 August 2024.
The acquisition price implies a 2.0x revenue multiple on $259M of revenue.
Before the acquisition KAMA had raised $21M across 1 funding round.
Sveza, the world's largest birch-plywood producer, controlled by Alexey Mordashov, signed an agreement in early August 2024 to buy 100% of OOO Kama, the operator of the Kama pulp and paper mill in Krasnokamsk, Perm Krai, from Augment Investments, a vehicle linked to Pharmstandard co-owner Viktor Kharitonin. Kama is Russia's first producer of light-weight coated paper and its only maker of coated folding boxboard, with capacity of about 220,000 tonnes of board and 85,000 tonnes of paper a year. The parties did not disclose the terms; Kommersant's sources put the price at RUB 47 billion, about 30% more than the RUB 36 billion Kharitonin's structure paid for the mill in February 2023. OOO Kama had 2023 revenue of RUB 23.6 billion and a net loss of RUB 286.5 million. Sveza said the purchase diversifies it into pulp and paper, and the deal closed after clearance by the Federal Antimonopoly Service in September 2024.
