DateStageInvestorsRaisedDeal Summary
May 2021Series AApax Digital (lead)$43MFaculty is a leading British artificial intelligence company founded in 2014 that provides data science and engineering services through its proprietary "AI as a Service" platform. The company combines strategy, software, and specialized talent—with over 50 PhDs on staff—to help organizations integrate AI into their business operations and make data-driven decisions. Faculty has worked with over 230 customers globally across sectors including defense, financial services, healthcare, and public sector organizations such as the National Crime Agency, and private companies including Red Bull, Virgin Media, and Moonpig. On May 24, 2021, Faculty announced it had raised £30 million (approximately $42.5 million USD) in growth funding from the Apax Digital Fund (ADF), marking the largest single investment Faculty had accepted at that time. This round brought total investment in the company to nearly £40 million. The capital was designated for expansion of Faculty's "AI as a Service" model and scaling operations globally. Mark Beith, Partner at Apax Digital, joined Faculty's board as part of the investment. Prior to the Apax round, Faculty had raised almost $12 million from investors including Guardian Media Group Ventures, LocalGlobe, and Jaan Tallinn, one of Skype's founding engineers. Following the 2021 Apax investment and ongoing support from LocalGlobe, Faculty more than quadrupled in size by 2025, growing its team to over 400 AI professionals and developing Frontier, a scalable software platform with particular strength in life sciences decision intelligence. On January 6, 2026, Accenture acquired Faculty to integrate its applied AI capabilities and technology platform into Accenture's global service delivery model.
