| Date | Stage | Investors | Raised | Deal Summary |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dec 2024 | Series A | Sedgwick Yard (lead) | $60M | Akamis Bio is a clinical-stage oncology company developing a proprietary Tumor-Specific Immuno-Gene Therapy (T-SIGn®) platform to deliver novel immunotherapeutic proteins, biomolecules, and transgene combinations for treating solid tumors. The platform enables intravenous delivery of therapies like NG-350A, an immuno-stimulatory tumor gene therapy driving intratumoral expression of a CD40 agonist monoclonal antibody, targeted at metastatic or advanced epithelial tumors including locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC). On December 17, 2024, Akamis Bio announced $60 million in funding linked to the close of a Series A Prime financing round led by Sedgwick Yard, a global biotech venture capital firm with Greater China roots. Richard Shen and Adrian Chan, Managing Directors at Sedgwick Yard, joined the board. In a separate transaction, Akamis Bio entered a licensing agreement granting Xuanzhu Biopharma rights to NG-350A in the Greater China region, providing undisclosed upfront payments, regulatory and sales milestones, and tiered royalties in the high single- to low double-digit range. The funding will support advancing NG-350A through a Phase 1b clinical proof-of-concept (PoC) study, the FORTRESS study, in LARC patients, building on prior Phase 1 data showing consistent safety, tumor-selective delivery, replication, transgene expression, and superior pharmacokinetics versus intratumoral injection. CEO Howard Davis emphasized the potential to alter the tumor microenvironment and deliver PoC data within 12-18 months. The company aims to expand its T-SIGn pipeline for difficult-to-treat solid tumors, with Sedgwick Yard confident in the platform's potential and management team's execution. |
| Jan 2023 | Undisclosed stage | ARCH Venture Partners (lead); Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy (lead); Westlake Village BioPartners | $30M | Akamis Bio (formerly PsiOxus Therapeutics) is a clinical-stage oncology company leveraging its proprietary Tumor-Specific Immuno-Gene Therapy (T-SIGn®) platform to develop immunotherapeutic treatments for solid tumors. The company's lead clinical programs, NG-350A and NG-641, are tumor gene therapies designed to drive intratumoral expression of immunotherapeutic proteins and enable the patient's immune system to recognize and attack cancer cells. On January 5, 2023, the company rebranded from PsiOxus Therapeutics and announced a $30 million convertible note financing co-led by ARCH Venture Partners, the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy, and Westlake Village BioPartners. The funding was designated to support development of the clinical-stage NG-350A and NG-641 programs as well as general corporate purposes. In December 2024, Akamis Bio closed an additional $60 million Series A Prime financing round led by Sedgwick Yard, with concurrent entry into a licensing agreement granting Xuanzhu Biopharma Greater China Region rights to NG-350A. The Series A Prime funding supports advancement of NG-350A through Phase 1b clinical proof-of-concept studies in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer. |
| Jan 2021 | Secondary | Revelation Partners; Rosetta Capital | - | Rosetta Capital VI, a fund managed by the British life sciences investor Rosetta Capital, agreed on 27 January 2021 to buy a basket of seven holdings from Schroder UK Public Private Trust plc, the London-listed investment trust formerly known as the Woodford Patient Capital Trust. The package was priced at GBP 49.0 million in aggregate, a 22 per cent discount to the carrying value of those holdings in the trust's net asset value at 30 September 2020, and the buyer additionally agreed to pay GBP 2.9 million reflecting follow-on investments the trust had made in January 2021. Rosetta Capital VI was capitalised with more than GBP 85 million and Revelation Partners, the Californian healthcare secondaries manager, was the lead investor backing the vehicle; the purchase completed on 15 March 2021 with an initial price of GBP 52.9 million and milestone payments of up to GBP 5.0 million. Schroder Investment Management, which took over the trust's mandate in December 2019, said the sale advanced its stated objective of reducing the number of holdings and concentrating the portfolio, and its managers Tim Creed and Ben Wicks welcomed Rosetta as a co-shareholder. Rosetta said it intended to provide follow-on capital to the acquired companies and its partners Jonathan Hepple and Ken MacLeod took board seats at portfolio companies. Because the GBP 49.0 million consideration covered all seven holdings together, no price is attributable to any individual company. Schroder UK Public Private Trust sold its entire holding in PsiOxus Therapeutics as part of the package. PsiOxus, based in Abingdon in Oxfordshire and formed in 2010, engineers systemically deliverable adenoviruses that carry therapeutic genes into solid tumours through its T-SIGn platform, with clinical candidates NG-350A and NG-641 and the oncolytic virus enadenotucirev. The company had licensed a T-SIGn candidate to Bristol Myers Squibb and was otherwise financed by equity from investors including SR One, IP Group, Lundbeckfonden and the Woodford funds whose successor manager was selling. It had no marketed product and expected income from partnering, milestone and royalty payments. In January 2023 the business relaunched as Akamis Bio with a USD 30 million convertible note financing, a new chief executive and a United States base in Cambridge, Massachusetts. |

A $60M Series A Prime in December 2024 led by Sedgwick Yard, a $30M convertible note in January 2023 co-led by ARCH Venture Partners, Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy, and Westlake Village BioPartners, and aggregate funding totals of $149.26M across 7 rounds or $122.69M over 7 rounds.
