WorkWave Acquisition
WorkWave was acquired by EQT for an undisclosed price on 22 June 2021.
WorkWave, previously part of IFS, was separated to launch as a standalone portfolio company of EQT Private Equity (EQT VIII and EQT IX funds) on June 22, 2021. The company provides software solutions for field service management, targeting small-to-medium sized businesses with a stronghold in the US pest control industry. Alongside the separation, WorkWave completed transformational add-on acquisitions including Slingshot (closed April 30, 2021) and RealGreen (expected to close by end of June 2021) to strengthen its leadership in asset-light field service management software across recurrent verticals. EQT and existing minority shareholder TA Associates continued to back WorkWave, with Serent Capital (former owner of RealGreen) as a new partner. David F. Giannetto remained CEO, supported by IFS CEO Darren Roos as Chairman. The parties agreed not to disclose transaction values or financial details for the separation and add-ons. This move positioned WorkWave for accelerated growth, leveraging EQT's sector experience. By 2022, WorkWave had more than tripled revenues since the 2021 separation through organic growth and three add-on acquisitions, establishing leadership across four main vertical segments in recurrent field services. EQT later sold a significant minority stake in WorkWave (and IFS) to Hg at a combined $10bn valuation, retaining majority ownership alongside Hg and TA.
