The investment is up to $1.725 billion (some sources cite $1.73 billion), intended to support DESRI's growth and enhance its market position in the energy transition sector. At the time, DESRI had over 6 GW of gross capacity in projects in operation or under construction, 4 GW of contracted pre-construction projects, and a development pipeline exceeding 25 GW. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and closing conditions. This deal complements MAM's existing portfolio of 12 GW operational capacity and positions both parties to capitalize on renewable energy market expansion.

The financing aims to facilitate growth in key electricity markets, new investments for customers and host communities, and consistent expansion. Harbert Growth Partners is noted as the investor in secondary listings of top NYC funding rounds for 2022. The D. E. Shaw group, DESRI's parent, managed more than $60 billion in investment and committed capital as of March 1, 2022.
