Biotrop Acquisition
Biotrop was acquired by BioFirst Group for an undisclosed price on 5 October 2026.
BioFirst Group acquired the remaining 14.71% minority stake in Biotrop in October 2026, announced on 5 October, and now owns 100% of the Brazilian biologicals company. The shares were bought from minority holders including Aqua Capital and Zempar, and the group's legal adviser reported that GIC also sold. Financial terms were not disclosed, and BioFirst said the transaction adds no liabilities because it was already fully provisioned. The purchase completes the mechanism set when BioFirst, then named Biobest Group, bought about 85% of Biotrop in 2023, with the minority stake to follow after a three-year transition; it was concluded well ahead of schedule. BioFirst chief executive Jean-Marc Vandoorne said full ownership accelerates integration and allows synergies to be captured faster. Biotrop's management remains in place and Antonio Zem stays on the group's board. Biotrop makes biopesticides, biostimulants and inoculants for row crops and specialty crops, and its 2026 investment foresees production of 23 million litres of beneficial bacteria and 600 tonnes of beneficial fungi. BioFirst, headquartered in Belgium, operates in macrobiologicals and pollination through Biobest.
