Atome Acquisition
Atome was acquired by Grab for $4.5B on 15 September 2026.
The acquisition price implies a 9.6x revenue multiple on $470M of revenue.
Before the acquisition Atome had raised $76M across 2 funding rounds.
Grab agreed on September 15, 2026 to acquire a controlling 60% equity interest in Atome Financial, the digital financial services platform of Advance Intelligence Group Limited, for $1.49 billion in cash. The transaction includes $260 million of primary growth capital in Phase 1, with Grab also agreeing to acquire the remaining 40% stake about two years after closing under a performance-linked framework tied to Atome Financial’s EBITDA and revenue, with at least half of the consideration settled in cash. The overall arrangement implies a total valuation range of $2 billion to $4.5 billion, and completion of the first phase is expected by the third quarter of 2027 subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions. The acquisition is intended to combine Atome Financial’s buy now, pay later loans, consumer cash loans, BNPL cards and digital lending business with Grab’s financial services segment, accelerating Grab’s push into Southeast Asian consumer lending and strengthening the ecosystem effect across mobility, deliveries and financial services. After closing, Grab will financially consolidate Atome Financial into its Financial Services segment, while Atome Financial’s management team continues to run the business. The structure also gives Grab a staged path to full ownership, linking the second phase to the target’s performance rather than a fixed price. Atome Financial operates across Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand and serves about 25 million users, while Grab’s ecosystem reaches about 54 million monthly transacting users.
