Before the acquisition Deposit Solutions had raised $198M across 5 funding rounds.

Deposit Solutions, a leading B2B open banking platform in the savings deposit sector, merged with Raisin, Europe’s largest B2C platform for savings and investments, on June 24-28, 2021, to form Raisin DS. The combined entity provides services to banks and consumers in Europe and the USA, working with around 400 banks and financial services providers from more than 30 countries, and is jointly led by founders Tim Sievers of Deposit Solutions and Tamaz Georgadze of Raisin. Both companies are backed by investors including Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, Headline, Index Ventures, Kinnevik, PayPal Ventures, Peter Thiel, and Ribbit Capital; Deposit Solutions had previously been valued as a unicorn following Deutsche Bank’s investment and raised $198.9M over funding rounds, with its last pre-merger valuation at $1,125.76M in September 2019. Sep 2019Undisclosed stageDeutsche Bank (lead)$55M$1.1BDeposit Solutions, a Hamburg-based open banking fintech, provides software that connects retail clients with lenders by comparing interest rates from around 100 financial institutions across 18 countries. The platform has transmitted billions in deposits, with Deutsche Bank's Zinsmarkt alone handling around two billion euros to date, offering fixed-term deposit products from multiple banks. On September 19, 2019, Deutsche Bank invested €50 million ($55.2 million) for a 4.9% stake, valuing the company at over €1 billion ($1.1 billion), making it Germany's second most valuable fintech after N26. This followed a $500 million valuation from an August 2018 funding round, more than doubling in 13 months. The investment supports platform expansion into Deutsche Bank businesses in Germany and abroad, with the bank already using the technology. The deal positions Deposit Solutions as a unicorn and key infrastructure for the deposits business. CEO Tim Sievers highlighted accelerated growth, while Deutsche Bank's Karl von Rohr emphasized digital platform capabilities for third-party products in fixed-income deposits. Internationally, Deposit Solutions expanded to Switzerland in early 2019 and planned U.S. entry soon after. Nearly 100 banks from 18 countries use the platform to offer deposit products or source deposits. The company later merged with Raisin in June 2021.
Aug 2018Undisclosed stageVitruvian Partners (lead); Greycroft; Kinnevik; Headline$100M$500MDeposit Solutions is a German fintech company founded in 2011 and headquartered in Hamburg, operating an open banking platform that connects banks to enable savers to access optimal deposit rates without opening new accounts. The platform links banks with excess capital to those needing funding, benefiting customers, originators, and funders. It had partnered with over 70 banks across 16 European countries, serving more than 30 million savers through points-of-sale like Deutsche Bank and Fidelity’s FFB, with offices in Hamburg, London, Zurich, and Berlin, employing 250 people. In August 2018, Deposit Solutions raised $100 million in a funding round led by Vitruvian Partners, with participation from Kinnevik and existing investors like e.ventures, achieving a post-money valuation of $500 million USD. This brought total funding to over $140 million, with prior backers including Peter Thiel and Greycroft, though they did not participate in this round. The investment supported international expansion, including into the United States. At the time, the company reported strong traction: transmitted deposits exceeded €9 billion in the prior nine months, later surpassing €10 billion through B2C brands ZINSPILOT and Savedo, with over 170,000 customers. Its B2B business grew to connect more than 80 banks. The round positioned Deposit Solutions to capitalize on open banking trends in the $50 trillion global savings deposits market, transforming deposit funding via Banking-as-a-Service without requiring banks to build their own infrastructure.

The company's platform allows banks to list and market savings deposit products to their clients without requiring account holders to open new accounts elsewhere, effectively digitizing a €9–€10 trillion European deposit market. It also operates ZINSPILOT, its own retail brand for marketing select deposit offers directly to savers. In July 2016, Deposit Solutions closed a €15 million funding round at a €110 million post-money valuation, marking a quadrupling of value since its prior €6.5 million round the previous year. The round was led by FinLab and included prominent investors PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel (via Valar Ventures), Greycroft Partners, and e.ventures. The capital was earmarked for technology development and international expansion, with specific focus on expanding into the UK market and launching its retail platform there in 2017. By mid-2017, Deposit Solutions had achieved rapid traction, reaching €2 billion in brokered retail deposits through its ZINSPILOT brand—doubling from €1 billion in October 2016 in just seven months. The company was already connecting banks across more than 10 European countries and positioning itself as one of the world's fastest-growing fintech companies at the time.
