Precisely Acquisition

Precisely was acquired by Clearlake Capital for $3.5B on 3 March 2021.

The acquisition price implies a 5.8x revenue multiple on $600M of revenue.

Before the acquisition Precisely had raised $1M across 2 funding rounds.

Precisely is the global leader in data integrity software, providing accurate and contextual data solutions to enterprise customers including 99 of the Fortune 100. The company was formed through Syncsort's 2019 acquisition of Pitney Bowes' location data and software business, with the combined entity renamed to Precisely in 2020. In March 2021, Clearlake Capital Group and TA Associates acquired Precisely in a $3.5 billion transaction, becoming majority shareholders with Centerbridge Partners retaining a minority equity stake. Clearlake had previously owned Precisely's predecessor entity (Vision-Syncsort) and sold it to Centerbridge in 2017, marking a re-acquisition by the firm. The deal was structured to provide Precisely with capital to accelerate its M&A strategy, particularly in data integrity categories including data integration, data quality, data enrichment, and data governance, positioning the company to expand its enterprise customer base across multiple industries.
