DateStageInvestorsRaisedValuationDeal Summary
Jun 2026Series CCoatue (lead); Hillhouse Investment (lead); Indonesia Investment authority; Achi Capital Partners$2.5B$11BDayOne Data Centers announced the final closing of its Series C equity financing at US$4.5 billion in June 2026, with the round led by existing investors Coatue and Hillhouse and new participation from Indonesia Investment Authority and Achi Capital Partners. The company said the funding will support expansion, and reporting noted it had previously completed an initial Series C raise of more than US$2 billion in January 2026. Coatue and Hillhouse are reported to be DayOne's two largest shareholders after the final closing. GDS, an existing shareholder, said its stake was worth more than US$2.2 billion at the Series C issue price, which press reporting translated into a valuation of more than US$11 billion; the company later filed for a US listing at a targeted valuation of about US$20 billion. DayOne is a Singapore-headquartered digital infrastructure platform that develops, owns, and operates hyperscale and AI-ready data center campuses. The new capital is being used to accelerate expansion in key markets, with additional equity and debt financing options under consideration. In its listing filing DayOne reported 2025 revenue of US$484.3 million and adjusted EBITDA of US$180.7 million.
Oct 2024Series BCoatue (lead); SoftBank Group; The Baupost Group; Kenneth Griffin$1.2B-DayOne, then known as GDS International (DigitalLand Holdings Limited), raised US$1 billion in a Series B round announced in October 2024, later upsized to US$1.2 billion. Coatue led the round, with participation from The Baupost Group, SoftBank Vision Fund and Kenneth Griffin. GDS International is the international affiliate of GDS Holdings and was later rebranded DayOne Data Centers. The investment consists of newly issued Series B convertible preferred shares. Together with existing equity, the proceeds are intended to fund development of up to 1 GW of data center capacity. After closing, GDS Holdings was to own approximately 37.6% of GDS International on an as-converted basis and would no longer consolidate it for accounting purposes. The pre-money valuation was not disclosed, though the Series B subscription price implied a value of about US$1.3 billion for GDS Holdings' retained equity interest. DayOne develops and operates data centers in Asia-Pacific markets including Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Japan. It had 480 MW of capacity in service and under construction and a further 590 MW for future development, with a target of 1 GW in total. The round reflected investor demand for Asia-Pacific data center capacity driven by AI, cloud computing and digital transformation.
Mar 2024Series ABoyu Capital; Princeville Capital; Hillhouse Investment; Rava Partners; Tekne Capital$672M$1.4BGDS International, the holding company for GDS Holdings' international data center business and later renamed DayOne, raised Series A convertible preferred shares from Boyu Capital, Hillhouse Investment, Rava Partners, Princeville Capital and Tekne Capital in a round announced on 26 March 2024. The round was first set at USD 587 million and was increased in May 2024 to USD 672 million at the same pre-money equity valuation of USD 750 million. GDS said the proceeds would fund the standalone development of the business, repay inter-company loans and fully capitalise its share capital without further funding from the parent. After the first closing GDS expected to keep about 56.1 percent of the equity, with the investors holding 43.9 percent. The business develops and operates data centers in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, with about 330 MW in service and under construction and a further 340 MW for future development at the time. It had secured more than 200 MW of customer commitments and reservations, and its sites included an 18.2 MW facility in Hong Kong and the first phase of a 158.7 MW campus in Johor, Malaysia.
